I got the afternoon off today and went to a movie. Seeing how it's Oscar time, I went and saw There Will Be Blood, I spent half the movie waiting for someone to quote the title passionately right before a huge fight with people covered in oil... but it never happened. I was a rather quite film, but Daniel Day-Lewis's character really had a great fire to him.
Oddly enough, the movie got me to thinking about my personal riches. And seeing how I live behind an organloft, my riches are my family. It's a little one to be sure, but the 3 of us live a very blessed life. Noah is quickly approaching 3 months, and Em's leave it quickly coming to an end, which means it'll be just me and the little guy during the day for a couple months.
Yesterday was Valentine's and Mary came and watched Noah so Em and I could go out to eat. We went to Wasabi and it was wonderful as always. I'm glad that we have people who are willing to give us a break here and there, and Noah is lucky he has a couple of great Aunts nearby.
Em has started to regain her creative juices and has been busy with projects and cooking. She made raspberry coconut cupcakes for Valentine's with cream cheese frosting... they made me cry a little they were so scrumtrulescent.
I bet oil barrons don't get to eat those.

I love your new word "scrumtulescent" - I'm just not sure how to say it...
And the best part about your riches is that you can share them without being diminished (well, maybe not the cupcakes...)
Can't wait to see you March.
Take care.

you really need to come and visit us so that emily can make me some cupcakes..
It sounds like you are definitely rich indeed. Rich in family, rich in life, rich in cupcakes. :)
A man with raspberry coconut cupcakes is always a blessed man. Hey EM- how's about whipping some of those up for me?
Nice Joe... thanks
I just re-read your post. And the thought of the cupcakes made me cry a little too. And now people at work are looking at me.
